Guest of honour and CEO Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda, Alhajji Ibrahim Lubega Kaddunabbi shares a light moment with IIU CEO Saul Sseremba at the 2019 Iftar dinner held at IIU premises in Victoria Office Park

Insurance Institute and IRA-U host Muslims and media at Iftar dinner

The Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) in partnership with Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA-U) hosted Muslim Members and the media at an Iftar dinner held at IIU premises located at Bukoto, Victoria Office Park.

This is the fourth time IIU hosted the Iftar dinner in the spirit of the tradition of togetherness time immemorial.

Guest of honour and CEO of IRA-U Alhajji Ibrahim Lubega Kaddunabbi applauded IIU for steering such initiatives like the Iftar dinner that are very engaging and work a long way in bolstering the cohesion which is key to the growth of the Insurance industry in Uganda.

Kaddunabbi said, “The event promotes a sense of solidarity amongst members and significantly bolsters engagement levels which has a positive and lasting relationship with the insurance industry”.

While addressing the members the dinner, IIU CEO Saul Sseremba said that engagements like Iftar dinner present the institute with the opportunity to engage with more people in the insurance industry to build a sturdy platform which is important in upping professionalism and penetration.

“Events like the Iftar dinner are a manifestation of the celebration of the role of faith in our lives”, said Sseremba.

“They also remind us of the basic truth that we are all children of one God, and we all draw strength and a sense of purpose from our beliefs”.

Initiatives like the Iftar dinner provide a shared space for people of different backgrounds to come together in a spirit of peace and connection which are fundamental in the month of Ramadan. At IIU, the key things we acknowledge in celebrations like Iftar dinner are inclusivity, diversity and multiculturalism as we strive to enhance professionalism through training opportunities in the insurance industry.

Sseremba also revealed at that event that the institute has experienced enormous growth over the years key amongst them being an increase in the number of graduates, building strong partnerships and moving into a permanent home.

“All these milestones signify the continued commitment to engage more partners and students all of which are geared towards enhancing professionalism in the insurance industry,” said Sseremba.

The Iftar dinner attracted hundreds of Muslim members in the Insurance industry and media partners from different media houses in the country.
