IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF TEACHING DELIVERY AND STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

On 28th May 2022, at Protea Hotel-Entebbe, the College hosted Dr. Masagazi Joel Yawe, and Mr. Lugemwa Patrick from the Uganda Christian University School of Education, who trained the College’s teaching staff on understanding the learning process to improve the quality of teaching and student engagement for better delivery.

The College has embarked on a series of pedagogy training for its teaching staff to sharpen their skills in teaching, assessment, and research functions. This is aimed at ensuring programme delivery.

As part of our commitment to deliver quality human resources for the Insurance sector, the Insurance Training College understands that quality begins with effective service delivery, and blending our approaches with technological advancement, to meet student needs in a fast-changing environment.

While speaking to the teaching staff, the College Principal/CEO Mr. Sseremba Saul reiterated the value of the teaching staff to the College and expressed his gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the College’s vision, and mission.  He also emphasized the importance of adequately preparing well for each lecture session, especially in the digital age where students have access to a lot of information.

“Unfortunately, the more senior one becomes, the less he/she prepares for class, and that is dangerous,” he said. “Students can always tell when you’re not well prepared,” he added.

The teaching staff also had opportunities to deliberate in groups and make presentations.

Dr. Masagazi implored everyone to treat students as partners in the teaching and learning process for effective delivery.

The team of ITC academic staff comprises seasoned professionals in the insurance industry working as Senior executives, and managers.
