Minister Kasaija inaugurates new board of the Insurance Training College

The Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), Hon Matia Kasaija, inaugurated the new board of the Insurance Training College (ITC) at the Ministry headquarters in Kampala.  The appointment and inauguration of the new Board Members by Minister Kasaija is in line with Section 140 (3) of the Insurance Act 2017. The five new board members are expected to spearhead the realization of the mandate of the College in the new dispensation as a public institution.

The seasoned insurer, Ronald Zake, was sworn in as the new chairperson of the ITC Board. Zake previously served as the Chairperson of the defunct Governing Council of the previously private tertiary institution. Zake has over 25 years of experience in the insurance business having previously served as the Managing Director of now Sanlam General Uganda and General Manager AIG Uganda. He is currently the Group Managing Director of A-Plus Group of Companies.

Also sworn in as new ITC board were:

  • Musa Lukwago, a senior economist in the MoFPED,
  • Dr. Abdul Hafiz Walusimbi, a seasoned educationist and academician,
  • Mr. Sande Protazio, the Director of Research and Market Development at the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA),
  • Ms. Jane Mwesigwa and
  • Ms. Josephine Kiyingi.
