The insurance industry came together in full strength for the 2025 edition of the Annual Insurance Sports Gala, hosted at the Indian Institute of Health and Allied Sciences. Held under the theme “Innovate, Play & Protect,” this year’s event was more than just winning medals; it was a celebration of teamwork, wellness, and professional unity across the sector.
From the first whistle to the final medal presentation, the day unfolded with competition across football, basketball, volleyball, netball, swimming, chess, pool, sack races, tug of war, and bottle balancing. The atmosphere broke down hierarchy, bringing together CEOs, managers, executives, officers, and support teams to connect and cheer each other on. As the day closed, ICEA Lion was crowned as the overall champions of the 2025 Insurance Industry Gala, Prudential Uganda secured second place, while GA Insurance Ltd emerged the third.
During the awarding ceremony, Saul Sseremba, the CEO of the Insurance Training College (ITC) expressed his pride in the unity and passion displayed throughout the day. “This is more than just a sports gala — it’s a platform for bonding and building brotherhood within the insurance industry,” he remarked. “The energy we have witnessed here today is exactly what our sector needs — collaboration, wellness, and togetherness.”
Echoing the same sentiment, the Guest of Honour and CEO of the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), Alhaj Ibrahim Kaddunabbi emphasized the purpose behind the gala noting that, “this is where the office assistant interacts with the CEO where everyone comes together not just to win, but to connect, have fun, and stay healthy,” he said. “Our goal is to see more interaction and networking in the industry, and we are seeing that happen through events like this. I encourage you all to continue exercising, to stay healthy and safe.”
Individual game highlights included GA Insurance Ltd taking first place in football, Mayfair Insurance Uganda leading in netball, and Prudential Uganda dominating both basketball and volleyball. UAP Old Mutual Uganda made a splash in swimming, Statewide Insurance Company Limited pulled through in tug of war, while ICEA Lion raced ahead in athletics.
The 2025 Insurance Sports Gala was a reminder that while insurance is about risk, protection, and numbers, it is also about people. It is about building networks, creating shared memories, and reinforcing the values that hold the industry together.
