The ITC Library
The Insurance Training College Library is a special organ of the College that plays an active support role in advancing learning, research, and scholarly inquiry for members, students, faculty, and staff of the College.
The library’s operations are geared towards the provision of access to a rich collection of information materials to meet the information needs of the ITC community, including faculty, students, researchers, and the entire ITC membership.
While our primary responsibility lies with the students, Facilitators, staff and members of the College, the Library welcomes and plans to engage in scholarly, cultural, and artistic interactions with broader insurance communities.
Vision
To provide access to a comprehensive collection of information materials required to meet the information needs of IIU members, faculty, and students.
Mission
To advance learning, research, and scholarly inquiry, in an environment dedicated to the enhancement of insurance knowledge and skills, by:
- Building, preserving, interpreting, and providing access to rich and diverse collections,
- Teaching the effective use and critical evaluation of information resources, and
- Developing creative and responsive services for the insurance community.
Library Resources
The Library currently provides access to over 1,100 Specialized volumes of books and other documents tailored towards the training needs of the ITC students and members.
The library also provides access to a comprehensive collection of electronic journals (E-Resources) acquired through the College’s collaboration with the Consortium of Uganda University Libraries.
Library services
Borrowing Services:
Library users can borrow books from the library for a period of two weeks to read at their convenience. Users can visit the College’s online Access Catalog (OPAC) to browse the library shelves and find out which books are available to borrow by Clicking Here
E-resources
E-resources can be accessed at the College premises or through a specialized aggregator portal called Myloft link: Click Here
The College is working to ensure that library users can access the e-resources remotely.
The E-library
ITC students have access to a robust suite of online revision tools to enhance their chances of Examination success. The e-library includes modules for accessing study materials, flashcards, and an online quiz. The e-library can be accessed at Click Here
Computer lab
The library has a computer lab with full internet connectivity. All library users are free to use this facility for their online research and study.
Reading space
The library has ample reading space in an environment suited for private study and revision.
