Agents training in Kasese District, Uganda.

In an effort to promote professionalism in the insurance sector in Uganda, the Insurance Training College conducted a training session focused on the rewards of business ethics, integrity and personal branding for insurance agents in Arua, Fort Portal, and Kasese districts. The training also provided a platform for our members in to share their feedback about ITC service delivery in their respective regions.

For a long time, the insurance sector in Uganda has faced reputational challenges caused by unprofessional conduct experienced decades ago in the absence of proper regulation. During his interactive presentations, Mr Edward Tabaaro elaborated on how crucial integrity is in the insurance industry, forming the foundation of trust between agents and clients. Real-world scenarios and case studies demonstrated the consequences of ethical lapses and the benefits of maintaining high moral standards. The session highlighted that integrity not only fosters client loyalty but also strengthens the reputation of the agents and their companies.

In addition to integrity, the training focused on personal branding. Agents learned about the importance of self-presentation and consistent communication in creating a strong personal brand. The training provided practical advice on intentionally leveraging social media, effective networking, and continuous professional development. The goal was to help agents align their value as individuals to enable them to succeed and grow sales.

The training included success stories of insurance agents who have excelled by adhering to integrity and personal branding principles. These examples provided practical insights and inspiration for the attending agents.

As the membership and training arm of the insurance industry in Uganda, this initiative aims to foster a culture of integrity and increased penetration through selling effectively.

By equipping upcountry agents with these essential skills, these training sessions seek to improve service quality and professionalism in the industry. As these agents return to their communities, they bring with them a commitment to ethical conduct and enhanced client relationships.

The free upcountry agent training and interaction sessions are among the annual ITC membership benefits to both individual and corporate members. Other beneficiaries include agents in Mbarara and sounding areas, Mbale, and Gulu region.
