ITC Engages at the African Accounting and Finance Association Conference.

A delegation from the Insurance Training College (ITC) recently attended the annual conference of the African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA), hosted at the Speke Resort Munyonyo. The conference served as a significant platform for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange knowledge on the evolving financial landscape across the continent.

ITC's participation aligns with our commitment to continue engaging with broader financial and academic discourse. The delegation included Samuel Magala, Manager for Research and Grants and the Senior Business Development Officer, Pascal Mugisha, who delivered a formal presentation about the College.

A key conference topic was the role of financial literacy in fostering economic stability. Discussions highlighted that effective financial education must include strategies for protecting assets, not just accumulating them.

In his presentation, the Senior Business Development Officer addressed this critical intersection, arguing that financial and accounting frameworks are inherently incomplete without the integration of insurance principles. He highlighted how the omission of insurance creates a vulnerability in both corporate finance and personal financial planning, hence the need for the College to engage finance professionals to appreciate and understand insurance concepts.

The College's involvement in this forum aligns with our goal to promote insurance knowledge across sectors, and to enhance professionalism within the insurance sector. Engaging with the accounting and finance sector is a logical and necessary step in this process, as these disciplines are intrinsically linked.

The insights gained from the conference will inform the ITC's ongoing curriculum development and strategic research efforts. The College remains dedicated to its role as a key stakeholder in Uganda's financial education ecosystem, committed to fostering a more comprehensive and resilient approach to professional development.
