In a significant step towards strengthening the foundation of Rwanda's insurance sector, the Insurance Training College recently held high-level strategic discussions with key industry leaders in Kigali. The meetings focused on a shared, critical objective: building a robust pipeline of professional talent to secure the industry's future growth and stability.
The College represented by the CEO, Saul Sseremba and other officers was honoured to convene with a delegation of Rwanda's foremost insurance authorities, including:
• Ms. Faith Batamuliza, Director of Insurance and Pension Supervision at the National Bank of Rwanda (NBR)
• Mr. Andrew Kulayige, Chairperson of the Association of Insurers, ASSAR RWANDA
• Mr. Mendies Mhiribidi ACII, Chairperson of the Rwanda Insurance Broker's Association
• Mr. Innocent Habarurema, CEO of Prime Insurance Limited
These dialogues highlighted a powerful, unified commitment across the sector to elevate professional standards. The conversations centred on the strategic role the Insurance Training College can play as a cornerstone for human capital development in Rwanda.
A primary outcome was the collaborative exploration of tailored training programs designed to equip insurance practitioners in Rwanda with the advanced skills and technical knowledge required to excel in an evolving financial landscape. This initiative is aligned with the nation’s broader economic vision, recognizing that a highly skilled workforce is essential for a resilient and innovative financial services sector.
"This engagement was more than a series of meetings; it was a confirmation of a shared vision," said Saul. "The enthusiasm and commitment from all stakeholders—regulators, insurers, and brokers—were palpable. We are not merely discussing institutional collaboration; we are actively nurturing the human capital that will power Rwanda's financial services for generations to come. This is the core of our mission at the Insurance Training College."
The College is excited to embark on this collaborative journey with the Rwandan insurance community. We are confident that through partnership and a focus on world-class education, we can make a profound and lasting impact on the sector's professionalism and success.
