ITC Forges Strategic Partnership in South Sudan.
Expanding Regional Our Footprint

JUBA, SOUTH SUDAN – In a significant move to expand our regional influence and foster insurance education, a delegation from the Insurance Training College (ITC) recently concluded a pivotal visit to Juba, South Sudan. The team, comprising the Deputy Principal, Sylvia Kajubi and the Academic Registrar, Sulaiman Dumba, completed a major partnership with Destiny University and initiated promising dialogues with the national insurance regulator.

The cornerstone of the visit was the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Destiny University College. This agreement designates Destiny University College as an official affiliated training and examinations centre for ITC’s insurance programmes. This partnership is designed to increase accessibility to professional insurance qualifications for students and professionals in South Sudan, providing a critical capacity-building pipeline for the nation's financial sector.

A key component of the MoU is ITC’s commitment to conducting a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) programme for the faculty of Destiny University. This initiative will equip local academics with the specialised knowledge and pedagogical skills required to deliver ITC’s curriculum effectively. This empowerment ensures the programmes are taught with the high standards of excellence and practical relevance for which the College is known, fostering sustainable academic development within South Sudan.

Beyond the academic partnership, the ITC delegation held productive meetings with Hon. Juma Stephen Lugga, the Commissioner General, Insurance Regulatory Authority, Central Equatorial State, Juba.

The discussions focused on identifying potential areas of mutual interest and future collaboration. These preliminary talks laid a foundation for possible joint initiatives aimed at enhancing professional standards, promoting insurance literacy, and supporting the overall development of a robust insurance industry in the world’s newest nation.

Sylvia stated that the agreement with Destiny University College is a commitment to shared growth.

“By building local capacity and making our qualifications more accessible, we are directly contributing to the professionalisation of the insurance sector in South Sudan. This aligns perfectly with our goal to build capacity in the region.”

According to Sulaiman, the success of this arrangement hinges on the quality of instruction. Our upcoming Training of Trainers is crucial to ensure that students in Juba receive the same quality of education as those in Kampala. The delegation was impressed by the enthusiasm of our new partners and looks forward to a long and productive relationship.

We are confident that the collaborations born from this visit will yield significant benefits for the professional landscape of South Sudan’s insurance industry for years to come.
