In a spirit of unity and collaboration, the Insurance Training College (ITC), in partnership with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), hosted the 10th Annual Iftar Dinner for Muslims in the insurance sector at the IRA offices. This event serves as a platform for fostering connections among insurance professionals, allowing them to network and break their fast together during Ramadan.

Ramathan Ggoobi, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and Secretary to the Treasury, graced the event as the Guest of Honor. He praised IRA and ITC for organizing an event that emphasizes the importance of sharing. He commended the thoughtful selection of the theme, “Balancing Religion, Faith, and Professional Life,” highlighting its relevance and significance in today’s world.

Reflecting on the theme, the guest speaker, Dr. Ashraf Mutagubya, a lecturer at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), offered insightful perceptions on striking a balance between religious beliefs and career ambitions. “Islam promotes a balanced way of life. It is essential to use the blessings Allah has provided to navigate both faith and professional pursuits,” he advised, adding, “Do not forget to enjoy the portion and blessings of this world.”

The CEO of ITC, Saul Sseremba, spoke passionately about the power of collective effort in driving growth within the insurance industry. He underscored the event's significance in promoting inclusivity across various faiths and the vital need for integrity while serving clients.

During the dinner, he announced the launch of a new Certificate in Takaful, aimed at enhancing the understanding of Islamic finance in the insurance industry. “The growth within the insurance sector is a direct result of our collective efforts. Events like the Annual Iftar Dinner play a significant role in these blessings,” he remarked.

Moses Turyomurugyendo, Board Vice-Chairperson at ITC, expressed pride in being part of ITC, an organization dedicated to enhancing skills in insurance. He shared his hopes that this Ramadan would inspire compassion and strengthen the determination to transform communities.
